Giorno liturgico: 24 Giugno: Nativita' di san Giovanni Battista
Testo del Vangelo (Lc 1,57-66.80): Per Elisabetta si compì il tempo del parto e diede alla luce un figlio. I vicini e i parenti udirono che il Signore aveva manifestato in lei la sua grande misericordia, e si rallegravano con lei. Otto giorni dopo vennero per circoncidere il bambino e volevano chiamarlo con il nome di suo padre, Zaccarìa. Ma sua madre intervenne: «No, si chiamerà Giovanni». Le dissero: «Non c’è nessuno della tua parentela che si chiami con questo nome». Allora domandavano con cenni a suo padre come voleva che si chiamasse. Egli chiese una tavoletta e scrisse: «Giovanni è il suo nome». Tutti furono meravigliati. All’istante si aprirono la sua bocca e la sua lingua, e parlava benedicendo Dio. Tutti i loro vicini furono presi da timore, e per tutta la regione montuosa della Giudea si discorreva di tutte queste cose. Tutti coloro che le udivano, le custodivano in cuor loro, dicendo: «Che sarà mai questo bambino?». E davvero la mano del Signore era con lui. Il bambino cresceva e si fortificava nello spirito. Visse in regioni deserte fino al giorno della sua manifestazione a Israele.
RIFLESSIONE DI LELLA
PREGHIERA: Vieni o Spirito Santo, ed aiutami a conoscere la tua parola, fa che io possa capire ogni cosa tu vuoi che capisca, e che sappia scrivere secondo il tuo consiglio.
Una cosa che mi salta all'occhio è come sia stato Dio a decidere tutto, anche il nome del bambino; incredulo il povero Zaccaria aveva dubitato, mentre offriva incenso sull'altare del Signore... Quanti di noi sono come Zaccaria, compiamo dei gesti senza una vera convinzione, preghiamo senza credere veramente... andiamo a messa distratti, facciamo la comunione incoscienti. Ma quando l'amore di Dio nasce, come viene alla luce il piccolo Giovanni, ecco la grazia. Giovanni, il precursore di Gesù, Giovanni il profeta, un uomo che era stato nel deserto per molti anni, e che aveva al suo seguito molti discepoli, un uomo che parlava nel nome del Signore, annunciava la venuta del Messia, ed era temuto per la sua predicazione quasi come Gesù stesso. Bellissime le parole di Gesù nei suoi confronti, quando dice: non c'è figlio d'uomo più grande di Giovanni. Da prima della sua nascita all'ultimo dei suoi giorni, Giovanni è stato il filo conduttore tra Dio e Gesù e tra questo e gli uomini.. Oggi vediamo che lo Spirito Santo agisce su di noi in maniera mirabile, tanti profeti sorgono, profeti dei giorni nostri, che anche se non sono veggenti, vivono nella vita di tutti i giorni il loro rapporto con il Signore in umiltà e sono motivo di conversione per molti... piccoli semi di senape nel solco dell'amore di Dio che danno frutti copiosi e neanche se ne accorgono, piccole persone che pregano da tantissimi anni, col rosario in mano, ne ricordo una col suo latino sbiascicato, che seguiva la messa senza capirla, ma con una fede che anche se era seduta tra i banchi della chiesa, io la ricordo in ginocchio.... una donna da sempre vecchia, con le mani rugose di terra e la schiena china dai panni lavati al fiume... una vecchia così io l' ho sempre vista nella mia vita... e mi ha fatto sempre tanta tenerezza e rispetto.. noi che vogliamo sempre conoscere, sapere, scrutare....lei che si affidava alla corona del rosario!
Cerchiamo anche noi, di lasciare un segno semplice del nostro passaggio sulla terra, di essere finalmente figli di Dio più che uomini.

Oggi festeggiamo solennemente la nascita del Battista. San Giovanni è un uomo di grandi contrasti: vive il silenzio del deserto, però da lì muove la folla e la invita con voce convincente alla conversione; è umile per riconoscere che egli è soltanto la voce, non la parola, però non ha nessun impedimento ed è capace di accusare e denunziare le ingiustizie, anche gli stessi re; invita a suoi discepoli ad andare da Gesù, però non rifiuta di conversare con il Re Erode mentre si trova in prigione. Silenzioso e umile, è anche coraggioso, è deciso fino a far versare il suo sangue. Giovanni il Battista è un gran uomo! il maggiore dei nati da una donna, così sarà elogiato da Gesù; però è soltanto il precursore di Cristo.
Chissà, il segreto della sua grandezza stia nella sua consapevolezza di sentirsi prescelto da Dio; così lo esprime l’evangelista: «Il fanciullo cresceva e si fortificava nello spirito. Visse in regioni deserte fino al giorno della sua manifestazione a Israele» (Lc 1,80). Tutta la sua infanzia e gioventù è stata segnata dalla consapevolezza della sua missione: dare testimonianza; e lo fa battezzando Cristo nel Giordano, preparando per il Signore un popolo ben disposto e, alla fine della sua vita, versando il suo sangue a favore della verità. Con la nostra conoscenza su Giovanni, possiamo rispondere alle domande di suoi contemporanei: «Chi sarà mai questo bambino?» (Lc 1,66).
Tutti noi, per il battesimo siamo stati scelti e inviati a dare testimonianza del Signore. In un ambiente di indifferenza, San Giovanni è modello e aiuto per noi; San Agostino ci dice: «Ammira Giovanni quanto ti sia possibile, giacché ciò che ammiri profitta Cristo. Profitta Cristo, ripeto, non perché tu gli offra qualcosa a Lui, ma per progressare tu in Lui». In Giovanni le sue attitudini di precursore, manifestate nella sua preghiera attenta allo Spirito, nella sua fortezza e umiltà, ci aiutano ad aprire nuovi orizzonti di Santità per noi e per i nostri fratelli.

Gospel text (Lc 1,57-66.80): When the time came for Elizabeth, she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the merciful Lord had done a wonderful thing for her and they rejoiced with her. When on the eighth day they came to attend the circumcision of the child, they wanted to name him Zechariah after his father. But his mother said, «Not so; he shall be called John». They said to her, «No one in your family has that name»; and they asked the father by means of signs for the name he wanted to give. Zechariah asked for a writing tablet and wrote on it, «His name is John», and they were very surprised. Immediately Zechariah could speak again and his first words were in praise of God. A holy fear came on all in the neighborhood, and throughout the Hills of Judea the people talked about these events. All who heard of it pondered in their minds and wondered, «What will this child be?». For they understood that the hand of the Lord was with him. As the child grew up, he was seen to be strong in the Spirit; he lived in the desert till the day when he appeared openly in Israel.

PRAYER: Come O Holy Spirit, and help me to know Your word is that I can understand everything you want it to understand, and who knows how to write according to your advice.
One thing that jumps to the eye is how it was to God to decide everything, even the name of the child; disbelief at the poor Zechariah doubted, while offering incense on the altar of the Lord. How many of us are like Zechariah, we make gestures with no real conviction, pray without really believing ... we go to Mass distracted, we make the unconscious communion.But when the love of God is born, as it is in the light of the little John, here's grace. John, the forerunner of Jesus, John the prophet, a man who had been in the desert for many years, and had many disciples to follow him, a man who spoke in the name of the Lord, announcing the coming of the Messiah, and it was feared his preaching almost like Jesus stesso.Bellissime Jesus' words against him when he says there is no son of man is greater than John. From before his birth to the last of his life, John was the common thread between God and Jesus and between this and men.Today we see that the Holy Spirit acts upon us in a wonderful way, many prophets arise, prophets of our day, that even if they are not visionaries, they live in the life of every day their relationship with the Lord in humility and are cause for conversion for many ... small mustard seeds in the wake of the love of God that give abundant fruit and not even realize it, small people praying for many years, with the rosary in hand, I remember one with his Latin sbiascicato, which followed the Mass without understanding it, but with a faith that even though he was sitting in the pews of the church, I remember a woman on her knees .. always old, with wrinkled hands of the earth and back china clothes washed by the river ... an old so I I've always seen in my life ... and I was always so much tenderness and respect that .. we always want to know, know, scrutinizing her .... that relied on the rosary! Let us also, to leave a simple sign of our passage on earth, to finally be children of God rather than men.

Today, we solemnly celebrate the Nativity of the Baptist. St. John is a man of contrasts: he lives in the silence of the desert, but right from there he appeals to the crowds with convincing voice inviting them to convert; he is humble enough to say he is only the voice, not the Word, but he does not mince his words and dares to accuse and denounce all injustices even to the very king; he urges his disciples to meet with Jesus, but he does not mind rebuking king Herod while he is in prison. Silent and humble, he is also strong and courageous enough to shed his blood. John the Baptist is a great man!, the greatest of them all, as Jesus himself will say in praise, but he is only Christ's precursor.
Perhaps, the secret of his greatness is the realization of knowing he has been chosen by God; this is how the evangelist explains it: «And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the desert until he appeared publicly to Israel» (Lk 1:80). All his childhood and youth was marked by the understanding of his mission: to provide testimony; which he does by baptizing Christ in the river Jordan, by favorably disposing the crowds for the Lord and, at the end of his life, by shedding his blood in favour of the truth. With our knowledge about John, we could answer the question his contemporary was wondering about: «What will this child be?» (Lk 1:66).
Through the baptism, we have been all chosen and sent to bear witness of the Lord. In an environment of indifference, St. John is a helping example to imitate; St. Augustine says: «Admire John as much as you can for, whom you admire is profitable to Christ. I insist, he is profitable to Christ, not because you offer anything to Him, but because of your being able to progress in Him». In John, his attitude as a Messenger, clearly explicit in attentive prayer to the Spirit, in his fortitude and humility, helps us to establish new horizons of sanctity for us and for our brother.

Texto del Evangelio (Lc 1,57-66.80): Se le cumplió a Isabel el tiempo de dar a luz, y tuvo un hijo. Oyeron sus vecinos y parientes que el Señor le había hecho gran misericordia, y se congratulaban con ella. Y sucedió que al octavo día fueron a circuncidar al niño, y querían ponerle el nombre de su padre, Zacarías, pero su madre, tomando la palabra, dijo: «No; se ha de llamar Juan». Le decían: «No hay nadie en tu parentela que tenga ese nombre». Y preguntaban por señas a su padre cómo quería que se le llamase. Él pidió una tablilla y escribió: ‘Juan es su nombre’. Y todos quedaron admirados. Y al punto se abrió su boca y su lengua, y hablaba bendiciendo a Dios. Invadió el temor a todos sus vecinos, y en toda la montaña de Judea se comentaban todas estas cosas; todos los que las oían las grababan en su corazón, diciendo: «Pues ¿qué será este niño?». Porque, en efecto, la mano del Señor estaba con él. El niño crecía y su espíritu se fortalecía; vivió en los desiertos hasta el día de su manifestación a Israel.
REFLEXIÓN LELLA
ORACIÓN: Ven Oh Espíritu Santo, y me ayude a saber su palabra es que puedo entender todo lo que quieras que entender, y quién sabe cómo se escribe de acuerdo con su consejo.
Una cosa que salta a la vista es la forma en que fue a Dios para decidir todo, incluso el nombre del niño, la incredulidad en los pobres Zacarías dudó, ofreciendo incienso en el altar del Señor. ¿Cuántos de nosotros somos como Zacarías, hacemos gestos sin verdadera convicción, orar sin creer realmente ... vamos a Misa distraído, hacemos la comunión inconsciente.Pero cuando nace el amor de Dios, ya que está en la luz del pequeño John, aquí la gracia. Juan, el precursor de Jesús, Juan el profeta, un hombre que había estado en el desierto durante muchos años, y tuvo muchos discípulos que le siguen, un hombre que hablaba en nombre del Señor, anunciando la venida del Mesías, y se temía su predicación casi como las palabras de Jesús stesso.Bellissime Jesús contra él cuando dice que no hay hijo del hombre es más grande que Juan. Desde antes de su nacimiento hasta el último de su vida, Juan fue el hilo conductor entre Dios y Jesús y entre éste y los hombres. Hoy vemos que el Espíritu Santo actúa en nosotros de una manera maravillosa, surgen muchos profetas, los profetas de nuestros días, que aun cuando no son visionarios, que viven en la vida de todos los días de su relación con el Señor en humildad y son motivo de conversión para muchos ... pequeñas semillas de mostaza en la estela del amor de Dios que da fruto abundante, y ni siquiera se da cuenta, la gente pequeña orando por muchos años, con el rosario en la mano, me acuerdo de uno con su sbiascicato América, que siguió a la misa sin entenderlo, pero con una fe que a pesar de que él estaba sentado en las bancas de la iglesia, me acuerdo de una mujer de rodillas .. siempre viejo, con las manos arrugadas de la tierra y la espalda china ropas bañadas por el río ... un viejo, así que siempre he visto en mi vida ... y siempre he sido tanta ternura y respeto que .. siempre queremos saber, conocer, examinar su .... que se basaba en el rosario! Veamos también, dejar una simple señal de nuestro paso en la tierra, para finalmente ser hijos de Dios antes que a los hombres.

Hoy, celebramos solemnemente el nacimiento del Bautista. San Juan es un hombre de grandes contrastes: vive el silencio del desierto, pero desde allí mueve las masas y las invita con voz convincente a la conversión; es humilde para reconocer que él tan sólo es la voz, no la Palabra, pero no tiene pelos en la lengua y es capaz de acusar y denunciar las injusticias incluso a los mismos reyes; invita a sus discípulos a ir hacia Jesús, pero no rechaza conversar con el rey Herodes mientras está en prisión. Silencioso y humilde, es también valiente y decidido hasta derramar su sangre. ¡Juan Bautista es un gran hombre!, el mayor de los nacidos de mujer, así lo elogiará Jesús; pero solamente es el precursor de Cristo.
Quizás el secreto de su grandeza está en su conciencia de saberse elegido por Dios; así lo expresa el evangelista: «El niño crecía y su espíritu se fortalecía; vivió en los desiertos hasta el día de su manifestación a Israel» (Lc 1,80). Toda su niñez y juventud estuvo marcada por la conciencia de su misión: dar testimonio; y lo hace bautizando a Cristo en el Jordán, preparando para el Señor un pueblo bien dispuesto y, al final de su vida, derramando su sangre en favor de la verdad. Con nuestro conocimiento de Juan, podemos responder a la pregunta de sus contemporáneos: «¿Qué será este niño?» (Lc 1,66).
Todos nosotros, por el bautismo, hemos sido elegidos y enviados a dar testimonio del Señor. En un ambiente de indiferencia, san Juan es modelo y ayuda para nosotros; san Agustín nos dice: «Admira a Juan cuanto te sea posible, pues lo que admiras aprovecha a Cristo. Aprovecha a Cristo, repito, no porqué tú le ofrezcas algo a Él, sino para progresar tú en Él». En Juan, sus actitudes de Precursor, manifestadas en su oración atenta al Espíritu, en su fortaleza y su humildad, nos ayudan a abrir horizontes nuevos de santidad para nosotros y para nuestros hermanos.

Texte de l'Évangile (Lc 1,57-66.80): Quand arriva le moment où Élisabeth devait enfanter, elle mit au monde un fils. Ses voisins et sa famille apprirent que le Seigneur lui avait prodigué sa miséricorde, et ils se réjouissaient avec elle. Le huitième jour, ils vinrent pour la circoncision de l'enfant. Ils voulaient le nommer Zacharie comme son père. Mais sa mère déclara: «Non, il s'appellera Jean». On lui répondit: «Personne dans ta famille ne porte ce nom-là!». On demandait par signes au père comment il voulait l'appeler. Il se fit donner une tablette sur laquelle il écrivit: «Son nom est Jean». Et tout le monde en fut étonné. A l'instant même, sa bouche s'ouvrit, sa langue se délia: il parlait et il bénissait Dieu. La crainte saisit alors les gens du voisinage, et dans toute la montagne de Judée on racontait tous ces événements. Tous ceux qui les apprenaient en étaient frappés et disaient: «Que sera donc cet enfant?». En effet, la main du Seigneur était avec lui. L'enfant grandit et son esprit se fortifiait. Il alla vivre au désert jusqu'au jour où il devait être manifesté à Israël.
REFLEXION DE LELLA
PRIERE: Viens O Esprit Saint, et aide-moi à connaître ta Parole, fait que je puisse comprendre tout ce que tu veux que je comprenne, et que je sache écrire selon ton conseil.
Une chose me saute aux yeux c'est comment Dieu à tout décider, le nom de l'enfant aussi; incrédule le pauvre Zacharie avait douté, pendant qu'il offrait de l'encens sur l'autel du Seigneur.3.... Combien de nous sont comme Zacharie, nous accomplissons des gestes sans vraie conviction, nous prions sans croire vraiment. nous allons à messe distrait, nous faisons la communion Inconsciemment. Mais quand naît l'amour de Dieu, comme vient à la lumière le petit Jean, voilà la grâce. Jean, le précurseur de Jésus, Jean le prophète, un homme qui a été dans le désert pour tant d'années, et qui avait à sa suite de nombreux disciples, un homme qui parlait au nom du Seigneur, il annonçait la venue du Messie, et il était craint pour sa prédication presque comme Jésus lui même. Très belles les Paroles de Jésus à son égard, quand il dit: il y n'a pas de fils d'homme plus grand que Jean. Déjà avant sa naissance et jusqu'au dernier de ses jours, Jean a été le fil conducteur entre Dieu et Jésus et entre celui-ci et les hommes. Aujourd'hui nous voyons que l'Esprit Saint agit sur nous de manière admirable, beaucoup de prophètes se lèvent, prophètes de nos jours, qui même si ils ne sont pas voyant, ils vivent dans la vie de tous les jours leur rapport avec le Seigneur en humilité et sont motif de conversion pour beaucoup.... petites graines de moutarde dans le sillon de l'amour de Dieu qui donne des fruits copieux et même pas si ils s'en s'aperçoivent, les petites gens qui prient depuis tant d'années, avec le chapelet en main, je rappelle une en avec son latin oublié, ils suivaient la messe sans la comprendre, mais avec une foi que même si elle était assise entre les bancs de l'église, je me la rappelle à genou.... une femme depuis toujours vieille, avec les mains rugueuses de terre et le dos penché à force de lavés par les tissus au fleuve..... une vieille je l'ai toujours vue ainsi dans ma vie..... et elle m'a toujours fait ressentir beaucoup de tendresse et de respect..... nous qui voulons toujours connaître, savoir, scruter. elle qui se confiait à la couronne du chapelet! Cherchons nous aussi, à laisser un signe simple de notre passage sur la terre, d'être enfin fils de Dieu plus que de l'hommes.

Aujourd'hui, nous célébrons la solennité de la naissance de Jean Baptiste. Saint Jean est un homme de grands contrastes: il vit dans le silence du désert, néanmoins de là il parle aux foules et, d'une voix convaincante, les invite à la conversion; il est humble dans la façon de reconnaître qu'il n'est pas la Parole mais uniquement la voix, mais il ne mâche pas ses paroles et il a le courage d'accuser et de dénoncer les injustices y compris aux rois eux-mêmes; il invite ses disciples à aller vers Jésus mais ne refuse pas de parler à Hérode pendant sa captivité. Silencieux et humble, il est également courageux et intrépide même au point de verser son sang. Jean Baptiste est un grand homme! Jésus dira de lui qu'il est le plus grand homme né d'une femme, mais il n'est que le précurseur du Christ.
Le secret de sa grandeur réside peut-être dans le fait qu'il est conscient qu'il a été choisi par Dieu, ainsi l'exprime l'évangéliste: «L'enfant grandit et son esprit se fortifiait. Il alla vivre au désert jusqu'au jour où il devait être manifesté à Israël» (Lc 1,80). Toute son enfance et son adolescence ont été marquées par la prise de conscience de sa mission: rendre témoignage; et il le fait en baptisant Jésus dans le Jourdain; en préparant le peuple pour le Seigneur; et à la fin de sa vie, en versant son sang en faveur de la vérité. A travers notre connaissance de Jean nous pouvons répondre à la question de ses contemporains: «Que sera donc cet enfant?» (Lc 1,66).
Par le baptême, nous avons tous été choisis et envoyés pour rendre témoignage du Seigneur. Dans un milieu indifférent, saint Jean est un modèle et une aide pour nous tous; saint Augustin nous dit: «Admire Jean autant que tu le pourras car ce que tu admires profite au Christ. Je répète, cela profite au Christ, pas parce que tu lui offres quelque chose à Lui, mais parce que tu progresses grâce à Lui». Chez saint Jean, son comportement de précurseur manifesté par sa prière attentive au Saint Esprit, son courage et son humilité, nous aident à ouvrir de nouveaux horizons de sainteté pour nous tous ainsi que pour nos frères.
